With the acknowledgment of receipt, a consignment is officially recorded at the receiver’s end. Normally, this is done by the signature of the recipient and meanwhile many delivery services sign the receipt on a display to digitally save the signature. The receipt is always used when the sender wants to make sure that the item has actually been delivered. In most cases, these are legal issues or deadlines that must be met. Due to the additional effort with a receipt confirmation must be expected with low extra cost, as often the recipient makes a confirmation of the receipts signed and this must be sent back to the sender. Meanwhile, there is the receipt even for e-mails.
