• Transit

The word transit stands for the crossing of a country. If a country is crossed during the transport of goods, but no goods are loaded or unloaded, one speaks of a transit country. However, the starting point and the destination of the transport may not be in the transit country.

Germany, in particular, is a good example of a transit country. Since there are many economic nations in the immediate vicinity, many trucks drive daily as transit traffic through Germany. As this transit will cause the infrastructure to deteriorate, tolls will be imposed on trucks in many countries so that transit traffic also participates in the maintenance of the infrastructure.
